The first ‘blue’ cattle were imported to the UK from Belgium in the early 1980s.
Ironically, the breed was selectively bred by nineteenth-century Belgian breeders who
imported Shorthorn bulls from the UK to improve their native dairy breeds by adding
the muscular bulk for which the breed is so revered today!
